Ankara, Nov 08 (V7N) — In a bold legal move, Turkey has issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
The warrant, announced by Turkish judicial authorities, also names 37 senior Israeli officials, including Defense Minister Israel Katz, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, and Navy Chief of Staff David Saar Salama.
According to the charges, the officials are accused of committing genocide and crimes against humanity during Israel’s military operations in Gaza. They are also accused of attacking the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian aid mission bound for the besieged enclave.
A statement from Ankara cited extensive evidence and witness testimonies, including forensic reports from survivors of the Sumud Flotilla operation, as crucial in building the case. The statement further condemned the “systematic atrocities” committed by Israeli forces in Gaza over the past two years.
This development follows an earlier decision by the International Criminal Court (ICC), which also issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes.
