Sanaa, July 05 (V7N) — Thousands of protesters gathered in Yemen’s capital Sanaa and other cities on Friday, rallying in support of Palestinians in Gaza. The demonstrations were organized by the Houthi rebel group, which has been firing missiles at Israeli ships in the Red Sea for months.

Protesters waved Palestinian and Yemeni flags and chanted slogans condemning Israel and the United States. Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi, in a video message, declared, “Our struggle against Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza will continue. We will stand with Palestine as long as we breathe.”

Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, ongoing since October 2023, has killed more than 38,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, sparking global protests. The Houthis have attacked Israeli and Israeli-backed vessels, prompting US-led coalition strikes that have yet to halt their operations.

Despite international calls for a ceasefire and humanitarian access, Israel continues its offensive in Gaza, notably in the Rafah area. Analysts say the Yemeni protests send a powerful message of solidarity with Palestine amid the ongoing crisis.
