DHAKA, Sept 2,(V7N) —- Tawhid Hridoy rewrote Bangladesh's first-class batting record yesterday, going past Tamim Iqbal's previous highest individual score of 334 with an unbeaten 350 for Bangladesh A against South Africa A in Potchefstroom.
Hridoy's marathon innings came off 481 balls as Bangladesh A declared their first innings at 676-8. His score eclipsed Tamim's 334, which he made for East Zone against Central Zone in the 2019 Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL).
The landmark innings also made Hridoy the first Bangladeshi batter to score a first-class triple century on foreign soil.
Bangladesh A resumed the final day with four wickets in hand after Saifuddin was dismissed late on the previous day. They lost two wickets early in the day, and when the eighth wicket fell, Hridoy was on 225.
He then found a valuable partner in Rejaur Rahman Raja, who remained unbeaten on 31 from 110 balls. The pair guided Bangladesh A to the declaration, with Hridoy reaching his record-breaking 350 before the innings was closed.
South Africa A which were bowled out for 512 in the first innings, began their second innings 164 runs behind, but Bangladesh A had little realistic chance of forcing a victory as insufficient time remained to dismiss the hosts.
