Hong Kong, Aug 8 (V7N) – German giants Bayern Munich defeated English club Aston Villa 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at Kai Tak Sports Park as European clubs continue their preparations for the new season.

Several European teams are currently in Hong Kong for friendly fixtures, with Bayern and Aston Villa meeting in one of the most anticipated matches.

Bayern took the lead in the 37th minute through South Korean defender Kim Min-jae. The Bavarians maintained their advantage until halftime.

Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany made several changes after the break, introducing key players from the starting lineup. Portuguese forward Luis Díaz came on as a substitute and doubled Bayern's lead in the 73rd minute.

Aston Villa fought back late in the match, with midfielder João Gomes reducing the deficit in the 83rd minute.

However, Villa could not find an equalizer as Bayern Munich held on for a 2-1 victory.

The friendly provided both teams with valuable match practice ahead of the start of the new European club season, which is now just a week away.
