DHAKA, July 7, 2026 (v7n)— The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has proposed Mirpur, Sylhet, and Chattogram as the host venues for the next edition of the Asia Cup, with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) currently reviewing the facilities before making a final decision.
The tournament, expected to be played in the ODI format, is likely to take place in June–July next year, though the ACC has yet to announce an official schedule.
Speaking to reporters today, BCB Security Committee Chairman Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed said the board had put forward the country's three regular international venues to stage the continental event. "We are considering Mirpur, Chattogram and Sylhet, which are the usual international venues we have. But again, nothing has been finalized yet. If next year's Asia Cup is held in Bangladesh, the spectators will be able to enjoy the tournament," he said.
Ahmed said the ACC had contacted the BCB for additional details about the proposed venues and that a decision was expected within the coming days. "We have been contacted and they want to know more about the three proposed venues. We hope to finalize the matter in the next few days," he added.
Bangladesh is aiming to host the Asia Cup for the first time in 11 years. Expressing optimism, Ahmed said the BCB is working diligently to ensure a successful tournament if the hosting rights are granted. "We are hopeful that the Asia Cup will come to Bangladesh again after so many years so that we can organize a good tournament for the spectators and everyone who loves the game," he said.
"We are trying our best, and you can probably understand how positive it is by looking at some of our activities. We are trying, now the rest will depend on what happens," he added.
