Paris, July 2 (V7N) – France have climbed to the top of the FIFA World Ranking after maintaining their perfect start to the FIFA World Cup, overtaking defending champions Argentina.

Didier Deschamps' side secured their place in the Round of 16 with a commanding 3-0 victory over Sweden in the Round of 32, extending their winning streak to four matches in the tournament.

France entered the World Cup ranked third with 1,870.70 rating points, behind Argentina (1,877.27) and Spain (1,874.71).

Four consecutive victories across the group stage and the Round of 32 have earned Les Bleus an additional 45.54 rating points, lifting their total to 1,916.24 and moving them to the top of the world rankings.

Argentina have slipped to second with 1,907.40 points, while Spain remain third on 1,879.58.

England occupy fourth place in the latest rankings. Brazil, Morocco and the Netherlands have each moved up one position to fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.

Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, have dropped three places to eighth, while Mexico have climbed five spots to ninth. Belgium complete the top 10 in 10th place.
