Bogotá, May 25 (V7N)- James Rodríguez has been named captain of Colombia’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the South American nation officially announced its final team for the tournament.
The 34-year-old midfielder, who recently faced concerns over his physical condition and reports linking him with a serious muscular issue, has ultimately secured a place in the squad and will lead the Colombian side in the competition.
Star winger Luis Díaz has also been included in the squad alongside several experienced international players.

Goalkeepers:
Camilo Vargas, Alvaro Montero and David Ospina.
Defenders:
Davinson Sanchez, John Lucumi, Yerry Mina, Willer Ditta, Daniel Munoz, Santiago Arias, Johan Mojica and Davor Machado.
Midfielders:
Richard Rios, Jefferson Lerma, Kevin Castano, Juan Camilo Portia, Gustavo Puerta, John Arias, Jorge Carrascal, Juan Fernando Quintero, James Rodriguez (captain) and Jaminton Campos.
Forwards:
Juan Camilo Hernandez, Luis Diaz, Luis Suarez, Carlos Andres Gomez and John Cordoba.
Colombia are returning to the World Cup after missing out on qualification for the 2022 tournament in Qatar. The team will begin their 2026 World Cup campaign in Group K against tournament debutants Uzbekistan on June 17.
They will later face Congo and Portugal in their remaining group-stage matches.
