Rio de Janeiro, May 19 (V7N) — Neymar has secured a place in Brazil’s final 26-man FIFA World Cup squad announced by head coach Carlo Ancelotti, ending months of uncertainty over his international future.

The Brazilian forward had been sidelined for much of the last three years due to recurring injuries and last appeared for the national team in October 2023. However, his recent return to action and improved performances for Santos FC convinced the coaching staff to include him in the squad.

Speaking after announcing the team, Ancelotti said Neymar’s physical condition and consistency had been closely monitored throughout the year.

“We have been evaluating Neymar throughout the year and have seen improvement in both his fitness and consistency,” the Brazil coach said.

He added that Neymar remains an important member of the squad and will have responsibilities equal to every other player in the team, regardless of whether he starts matches or comes off the bench.

The squad also includes several experienced stars and emerging talents, including goalkeepers Alisson Becker and Ederson, defenders Marquinhos and Danilo, midfielders Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães and Lucas Paquetá, along with attackers Vinícius Júnior, Raphinha, Gabriel Martinelli and Matheus Cunha.

Brazil enters the tournament aiming to reclaim the FIFA World Cup title and add a record-extending sixth championship to its history.
