Rio de Janeiro, May 15 (V7N) – Brazil national football team have entrusted their long-awaited World Cup mission to legendary Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, marking the first time in history that Brazil has appointed a foreign head coach.

The Seleção, who have not lifted the FIFA World Cup trophy in 24 years, are hoping Ancelotti can guide them back to global glory in the 2026 tournament.

Before even travelling to the World Cup, the 66-year-old coach received another major vote of confidence. The Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) has already announced plans to renew Ancelotti’s contract beyond the 2026 World Cup, signaling long-term trust in his leadership.

This is the first national team coaching role of Ancelotti’s illustrious career. Under his management so far, Brazil have played 10 matches, winning five, drawing two and losing three.

Brazil will begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign on June 13 against Morocco national football team. Their other Group C opponents are Haiti national football team and Scotland national football team.
