COLOMBO, Feb 28,  (V7N) – England bowled a team record 16 overs of spin to restrict New Zealand to 159-7 in their T20 World Cup Super Eights clash in Colombo on Friday.  

New Zealand, needing victory to secure a semi-final berth, won the toss and started strongly at 53-0 in six overs. But England, already qualified, regained control as captain Harry Brook deployed five slow bowlers, including debutant Rehan Ahmed.  

Will Jacks returned the best figures with 2-23, while Adil Rashid claimed 2-28 to become England’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 11. Ahmed struck with his first ball and finished with 2-28 from three overs.  

Glenn Phillips top scored with 39 off 28 balls, while opener Tim Seifert made 35. Liam Dawson took 1-32 and Jacob Bethell bowled three economical overs for 13 runs.
