Rangamati, Nov 03 (V7N) — In a rare display of unity and brotherhood, the Rangamati District Police organized a “Harmony Football Match” on Sunday afternoon, aiming to strengthen mutual trust and social harmony among the diverse ethnic communities of the hill district.
The event, held at the Rangamati Mari Stadium, was inaugurated by Additional Inspector General of Police (Addl. IGP) and DIG of Chattogram Range Md. Ahsan Habib Palash.
Rangamati Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Farhad Hossain presided over the program, while special guests included Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner (Headquarters) Farida Yasmin, Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Md. Habib Ullah Maruf, DMP Deputy Commissioner Kazi Nusrat Adeeb Luna, Acting District Education Officer Sarit Kumar Chakma, District Council Member Barun Bikash Dewan, District Sports Officer Harun-or-Rashid, and Rani Dayamayee High School Headmaster Rantos Mallick, among others.
Following the inauguration, the match was played in a lively and friendly atmosphere. In an exciting contest, Rani Dayamayee High School defeated Rangamati Government High School by 4–2 goals, earning the champion’s title.
Local community representatives praised the police initiative, emphasizing that sports not only serve as entertainment but also play a vital role in promoting understanding, peace, and communal harmony.
Rangamati District Police stated that such sporting and cultural activities will continue to be organized regularly to maintain peaceful coexistence and goodwill among all ethnic communities, including both indigenous and Bengali residents.
