Dhaka, Oct 06 (V7N) – Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal has withdrawn his candidacy from this year’s Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections at the last moment, citing various issues including interference in the board’s internal process.

Speculation arose earlier today that Tamim had nonetheless cast his vote in the BCB election. However, the star cricketer dismissed the claims in a social media post.

Posting on his verified Facebook page, Tamim clarified:

“I can see in many media outlets and on various channels that it is being said that I voted in the BCB election. That is not true at all.
I had applied for e-voting earlier because I was outside the country. But as a councilor of Old DOHS Club, I did not participate in the election or vote.”

Tamim’s decision to step away from the BCB polls and his public denial of the voting claim have sparked fresh discussions within the country’s cricketing circles about transparency and political influence in the sport’s governing body.
