New York, Dec 21 (V7N) — The United Nations and the Commonwealth have urged calm and peaceful conduct in Bangladesh following the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inquilab Mancha.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the killing of Hadi and emphasized the importance of avoiding violence to ensure a peaceful environment ahead of the national elections scheduled for February.

At a regular briefing held on Friday at the UN Headquarters in New York, the Secretary-General’s spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, conveyed the organization’s condolences and reiterated the call for all parties to maintain peace and stability in the country.

The Commonwealth also joined in expressing grief over Hadi’s death and highlighted the need for non-violence and adherence to democratic principles during the electoral process.
