Dhaka, Dec 14 (V7N) — The assailants involved in the shooting attack on Inkilab Mancha organizer Osman Hadi have crossed the border into India and are currently staying in Guwahati, Assam, according to Qatar-based Bangladeshi journalist Zulkarnaen Sayeer of Al Jazeera.
In a statement posted late Saturday night on his verified Facebook account, Sayeer said reliable information confirms that the main shooter, former Chhatra League leader Faisal Karim Masud, also known as Daud Khan, and his accomplice, motorcycle rider Alamgir Hossain, entered India on the evening of December 12.
Sayeer further alleged that the attackers are receiving assistance in India from Md. Masudur Rahman Biplob, the personal assistant to Awami League leader Jahangir Kabir Nanak. He claimed that the suspects are staying in India under Biplob’s supervision.
Citing trusted sources, Sayeer said the attack on Osman Hadi was carefully planned and warned that attempts may be underway to carry out similar attacks through additional hit teams. He also noted that Faisal reportedly told close associates that his firearm jammed during the attack, allowing him to fire only one shot instead of the four he had planned.
In another development, Sayeer referred to armed cadre Md. Sazzad, a former executive member of Chattogram city Jubo League, who was previously arrested in connection with the murder of Faisal Ahmed Shanto during the anti-discrimination student movement in Muradpur, Chattogram. Sazzad was released on bail from the Supreme Court on July 29, 2025.
Sayeer emphasized the urgent need to verify the current whereabouts and activities of armed members of banned organizations who have recently been granted bail, warning of serious security risks if immediate action is not taken.
