Washington, June 23 (V7N) — U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated on Sunday that the United States has no intention of becoming entangled in a prolonged conflict in the Middle East, following limited U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend.

Addressing the media after the operation, Vance emphasized that Washington’s primary objective was to safeguard regional peace, not to escalate tensions or pursue regime change in Iran.

“The United States does not seek a long-term war in the Middle East,” Vance said. “Saturday night’s limited strike on Iranian nuclear infrastructure was a targeted and strategic measure aimed at maintaining regional stability and deterring further escalation.”

The Vice President’s remarks come amid rising concerns over potential Iranian retaliation and broader regional fallout after the coordinated U.S. airstrikes on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities — actions that have drawn international scrutiny and speculation about the future of U.S. foreign policy in the region.

Vance reiterated that while the U.S. remains committed to defending its interests and those of its allies, it prefers diplomacy over warfare. He called on Tehran to refrain from provocative responses and return to a path of dialogue.

As of now, no additional military actions have been announced, and officials suggest that the U.S. hopes to avoid further escalation unless provoked.
