Dhaka, Sept 2 (V7N) – Dengue fever has claimed three more lives in the past 24 hours across Bangladesh, according to a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The newly reported deaths include one resident of Dhaka South City Corporation, one individual from Chattogram Division, and another from Dhaka Division. During the same 24-hour period, 473 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide.
Breakdown of the new hospitalizations shows Barishal Division with 113 cases, Chattogram 81, Dhaka Division 76, Dhaka South City Corporation 83, Dhaka North City Corporation 53, Mymensingh 10, Rajshahi 48, Rangpur 7, and Sylhet 2.
DGHS data shows a consistent rise in dengue cases this year. Monthly hospital admissions are as follows: 1,161 in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May, 5,951 in June, 10,684 in July, and 10,496 in August.
Dengue-related deaths have also surged, with 125 fatalities reported so far this year. These include 10 deaths in January, 3 in February, 7 in April, 3 in May, 19 in June, 41 in July, and 39 in August.
Public health officials continue to urge citizens to remain vigilant, eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, and seek medical attention promptly if symptoms appear. The government has increased surveillance and mosquito control measures in high-risk zones, especially in Dhaka and coastal divisions.
The dengue situation remains a serious public health concern as both infections and fatalities continue to climb during the peak transmission season.
