Dhaka, Jan 15 (V7N) — The Cricket Owners’ Association of Bangladesh (COAB) has demanded the resignation of BCB Director M Nazmul Islam, citing unresolved issues and controversial remarks that have disrupted cricket activities, including the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

COAB President Mohammad Mithun said at a press conference at Hotel Sheraton today, “Despite approaching the BCB multiple times on various issues and receiving assurances, no solutions were provided. If limits are crossed, action becomes inevitable. That is why our actions today are forced and out of helplessness.”

He emphasized that the COAB remains firm on its demand for Nazmul Islam’s resignation. “We have tried to discuss matters with the board in various ways. We want to play, but only if our demands are met,” he added. Mithun also expressed frustration over the BPL halt, saying, “It is very sad but true that a game like the BPL has been stopped. I don’t even know if I slept an hour last night.”

COAB Secretary Nurul Hasan Sohan added that players are ready to play and expressed the association’s desire to see cricket continue nationwide.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has issued a show-cause notice to Nazmul Islam, requiring him to respond within 48 hours regarding his controversial comments. The board will decide on further action based on his explanation.
