Lahore, May 31 (V7N) – Bangladesh suffered a comprehensive defeat in the second T20I against Pakistan, losing by 56 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Chasing a challenging target of 201 runs, the visitors were bundled out for 144, handing Pakistan an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series.

Pakistan's Batting Dominance

After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat first—a decision that paid off handsomely. Although opener Sayeem Ayub was dismissed early, the hosts built momentum through a commanding 103-run second-wicket stand between Shahibzada Farhan and Mohammad Haris.

  • Shahibzada Farhan, replacing Fakhar Zaman in the XI, anchored the innings with a powerful 74-run knock, including six sixes and four boundaries, benefitting from two dropped chances.

  • Mohammad Haris contributed a brisk 41 off 25 balls, smashing four fours and two sixes.

  • Hasan Nawaz, continuing his fine form, added late fireworks with an unbeaten 51 off just 26 deliveries.

Pakistan posted 201/6, mirroring their total from the first match.

Bangladesh's Batting Woes

Bangladesh started with some promise as Tanjid Tamim launched a quick assault, scoring 33 off 19 balls with five fours and a six. However, his dismissal at 4.3 overs triggered a dramatic collapse.

  • Liton Das (6), Towhid Hridoy (5), and Zaker Ali (0) fell in quick succession, leaving Bangladesh reeling at 56/5.

  • Captain Liton Das was particularly disappointing, falling to a reckless shot that derailed the chase.

Some late resistance came from:

  • Mehidy Hasan Miraz (23 off 17), who replaced Sheikh Mahedi.

  • Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who smashed 50 off 31 balls, including five sixes and a four, giving fans a brief glimmer of hope before Bangladesh were all out with one over remaining.

Pakistan’s Bowling Brilliance

Leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 19 runs in his 4-over spell. He was well supported by:

  • Shadab Khan, Khushdil Shah, Sayeem Ayub, Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf, and Haris Rauf, all of whom chipped in with a wicket each.

With the series already secured, Pakistan will go into the final match with confidence, while Bangladesh will look to avoid a whitewash and salvage pride in the third T20I.
