Comilla, Jan 31 (V7N) — Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has vowed to remain with the people of Bangladesh despite adverse circumstances, saying he will neither abandon the country nor its citizens in the future.

He made the remarks while addressing an election rally at Chauddagram Upazila Ground in Comilla on Saturday morning, ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said the people are expecting a major change after the election. “The change people want after the 13th will be based on the aspirations of the youth and the hopes of mothers and sisters. The people no longer want to see hegemony,” he said.

Warning against violence and intimidation, the Jamaat Ameer stated, “Do not think that you can lay hands on our mothers and we will remain silent,” issuing a strong caution to those involved in such activities.

Addressing what he described as misinformation, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said propaganda was being spread against Jamaat-e-Islami. “There are claims that if Jamaat comes to power, Qaumi madrasas will be closed and imams and khatibs will be expelled. These are completely false,” he asserted.

He further said that Jamaat aims to establish a society where security is ensured for all citizens. Speaking on law and order, he warned extortionists, saying they would be given an opportunity to reform. “If they fail to correct themselves, they will have to pay a heavy price,” he added.

The rally was attended by leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and allied parties from different areas of Chauddagram Upazila.
