Dhaka, Dec 11 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that party acting chairman Tarique Rahman will return to Bangladesh “very soon,” adding that the day he sets foot in the country, “the whole of Bangladesh should tremble.”

He made the remarks on Thursday morning while inaugurating the fifth day of the BNP’s program titled “Plan to Build a Country” at the Krishibid Institution Auditorium in the capital’s Khamarbari area.

Reflecting on the country’s history, particularly 1971, Mirza Fakhrul warned of emerging threats. “Is a black paw coming out from behind through the darkness? Is another form of fascism trying to sit on us? Is someone trying to mislead the people of Bangladesh using our beloved religion?” he asked, urging people to remain alert.

He said the upcoming national election would be fundamentally different. “This election is not like the Awami era. This will be a fully neutral and truly fair election. To win this election, you must win the love of the people, bring them to the polling booths, and earn their votes,” he said.

Addressing the newly formed NCP alliance, Mirza Fakhrul said the BNP has always welcomed youth-led initiatives. However, he expressed displeasure at claims that the BNP does not support reforms. “BNP gave birth to reforms,” he asserted.

He also prayed for the recovery of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, saying, “I pray to Allah to restore her health and return her to us.”
