Dhaka, Sept 1 (V7N) — A delegation from the National Citizens' Party (NCP), led by the party’s Chief Organizer for the Northern Region, Sarjis Alam, paid a courtesy visit to the top leadership of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on the occasion of BNP’s 47th founding anniversary. The delegation presented flowers to senior BNP leaders as a gesture of goodwill and solidarity.

Other members of the NCP delegation included Senior Joint Conveners Samanta Sharmin and Ariful Islam Adib, among others.

In a Facebook post commemorating the occasion, Sarjis Alam extended greetings to all members of the BNP, stating: “Warm wishes to everyone on the 47th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). In post-uprising Bangladesh, we hope to move forward together in unity, prioritizing national interests above all else, and confronting all conspiracies on the path to democratic transition.”

The event marked a rare moment of inter-party civility and symbolic support, reflecting a shared desire among some political factions to engage in more constructive democratic practices amidst the nation’s ongoing political challenges.

Background:
Founded in 1978 by former President Ziaur Rahman, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is one of the country’s two major political parties. The NCP, a relatively newer political entity, has positioned itself as a citizen-focused party advocating for democratic reforms and national unity.
