Dhaka, Sep 01 (V7N) – Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman has assured Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus of full cooperation in implementing the programs and initiatives of the interim government.

The assurance came during a meeting between the army chief and the chief advisor at the Chief Advisor’s Office on Monday afternoon, according to a press statement from the chief advisor’s press wing.

During the meeting, Dr. Yunus discussed the army’s role in assisting the civilian administration in the current situation. He expressed gratitude to the armed forces for their continued contribution in maintaining law and order across the country.

The Chief Advisor also stressed the importance of further streamlining the army’s role in the coming months ahead of the national elections, including the establishment of a clearly defined command structure and stronger coordination among all security forces.

The army chief, in response, reiterated that the entire army remains committed to supporting the interim government. He also urged the chief advisor not to pay heed to rumors being spread in different quarters.

Later in the day, General Waqar-uz-Zaman also called on President Md. Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban.
