Dhaka, Aug 30 (V7N) – A violent clash between activists of the Jatiya Party and the People’s Rights Council broke out in Kakrail on Friday evening, leaving several people injured, including People’s Rights Council President Nurul Haque Noor.
The incident occurred around 6:15 pm in front of the People’s Rights Council office. Witnesses said a chase and counter-chase ensued when a procession of the People’s Rights Council crossed paths with Jatiya Party supporters. Both groups hurled brickbats during the confrontation.
The clash lasted for nearly 30 minutes before army and police personnel intervened to bring the situation under control.
Several injured individuals were taken to nearby hospitals. Among them, Noor is undergoing treatment at a private facility in Kakrail.
Both groups have traded blame over the incident. Leaders of the People’s Rights Council alleged that their peaceful procession was attacked without provocation, while the Jatiya Party claimed that the People’s Rights Council initiated the violence.
Traffic in the Kakrail area was severely disrupted during the clash but resumed after security forces restored order.
