Dhaka, Aug 10 (V7N) – Mujibur Rahman Manju, Chairman of the Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party, voiced concerns over potential election disruptions if the government fails to control Awami League workers and supporters during the upcoming polls. He questioned the government’s current capacity to prevent sabotage by ruling party affiliates.
Manju made these remarks at a roundtable discussion titled One Year of the Interim Government: Ministry-Wide Review organized by the Institute of Policy Dialogue (IPD) at the National Press Club on Sunday (August 10).
Stressing the need for stability, Manju said, “A stable government for the next five years is essential to safeguard Bangladesh’s stability and the spirit of the July uprising.”
At the same event, BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Sukomal Barua criticized the lack of accountability in ministries under the interim government and expressed hope for free and fair elections.
Jamaat leader Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair highlighted the absence of clarity regarding the implementation of the July Charter, emphasizing the necessity of a legal framework for the charter. He warned that without elections conducted under the July Charter, the country risks descending into darkness.
