Dhaka, Aug 9 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that the country’s pharmaceutical industry is facing a severe crisis as a result of “destructive policies” implemented by the current government’s Health Ministry.
Speaking at the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) conference, a pro-BNP doctors’ platform, Fakhrul claimed that the industry, which exports medicines to various countries, is now on the verge of closure.
“Those who are currently manufacturing medicines say that the situation in this sector has become so dire that pharmaceutical factories may shut down. They allege that the Assistant Advisor to the Health Ministry is introducing certain regulations that are pushing the industry toward collapse,” he said.
Fakhrul described most of the interim government’s policies as “suicidal,” accusing it of fostering a “culture of mutual violence” that is harming the nation.
Referring to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman as the future Prime Minister of Bangladesh, he reiterated the party’s commitment to its 31-point reform agenda, which he said prioritizes public health.
“It is not only about the right to vote — all rights of the people, including the right to healthcare, must be ensured,” he said.
