Dhaka, July 22, (V7N) – Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus held a closed-door meeting on Tuesday evening with leaders of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), and the Islamic Movement to discuss the current political landscape, including the devastating warplane crash in Uttara and the implementation of the July Charter.

Following the meeting, leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and the Islamic Movement spoke to journalists at approximately 10:30 pm outside the meeting venue. However, representatives from BNP and NCP declined to comment publicly.

Speaking to the media, Jamaat-e-Islami Naib-e-Ameer Abdullah Mohammad Taher said,

“We expressed our condolences for the victims of the tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College. We urged the government not to neglect the injured and to provide full assistance to the families of the deceased.”

On the law and order situation, Taher stated,

“We advised the government to adopt a firmer stance. Some groups are intentionally destabilizing the situation. Fascism has no place in Bangladesh, and the entire nation must remain united in resisting it.”

He also emphasized the importance of a level playing field and political stability before the next general election.

Meanwhile, Gazi Ataur Rahman, Joint Secretary General of the Islamic Movement, accused various quarters of attempting to exploit the current crisis by spreading rumors.

“We all agree that anti-fascist unity must be preserved. Despite ideological differences, none of us want to see Awami fascism regain ground,” he said.

Rahman raised concerns over repeated attacks on the secretariat, questioning why such incidents are occurring under the current administration.

“This never happened before. We’ve urged the government to investigate whether there is a failure in administration or law enforcement,” he added.

Both leaders urged the government to take strong action to restore law and order and ensure a peaceful environment leading up to the elections.
