Dhaka, June 11 (V7N) — BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that the entire nation is eagerly waiting for the anticipated meeting between Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in London. He expressed optimism that the meeting would prove to be historic, playing a key role in deciding the schedule of the upcoming national elections.

Rizvi made these remarks during a discussion with journalists on current political issues at the BNP's central office in Nayapaltan on Wednesday.

Emphasizing the BNP’s consistent demand for elections to be held in December, Rizvi warned that any attempt by fascist forces to obstruct democratic processes would not be tolerated. He also expressed hope that the meeting between Dr. Yunus and Tarique Rahman would bring positive changes to the country’s political landscape.

Addressing recent developments along the border, Rizvi accused India of forcibly pushing people into Bangladesh, branding them as foreigners. He asserted that Bangladesh would both protest and resist such actions.

Turning to public health issues, the senior BNP leader criticized the government's handling of the ongoing coronavirus situation, as well as the worsening dengue crisis. “The role of the Health Ministry in protecting people from these threats is insignificant,” Rizvi claimed, warning that public health is now under serious threat due to government negligence.

He urged the authorities to take immediate, effective measures to control the situation and protect the people.
