Dhaka, May 03 (V7N) – Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh launched a large-scale rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Saturday morning, presenting four key demands including the abolition of the Women’s Affairs Reform Commission.

Thousands of supporters from across the country began gathering in front of the TSC Raju Sculpture at dawn, arriving in groups to join the grand assembly that officially began at 9:00 AM and is scheduled to continue until 1:00 PM. A significant number of participants were seen holding Palestinian flags, symbolizing solidarity with oppressed Muslims abroad.

The group’s primary demands include:

  1. Abolition of the Women's Affairs Reform Commission, which they claim goes against the Quran and Sunnah.

  2. Restoration of full trust and faith in Allah in the Constitution of Bangladesh.

  3. Withdrawal of all politically motivated and false cases filed during what they referred to as the “Awami fascist era.”

  4. Trial of all killings, including the 2013 Shapla Chattar incident, which Hefazat describes as a massacre.

Speakers at the rally stated that if the interim government fails to act on their demands, it will meet the same fate as previous “dictatorial regimes.” They also demanded that the government take a firm stance against the oppression of Muslims in Palestine and India, and reject any proposals for constitutional pluralism, which they claim contradicts Islamic values.

Law enforcement agencies have been deployed in large numbers to ensure security in and around Suhrawardy Udyan. The rally has so far remained peaceful, though the atmosphere is charged with emotional speeches and chants from the podium.

This rally comes at a time of heightened political sensitivity in Bangladesh, with increasing public mobilization by various groups calling for reforms and accountability from the interim administration.
