Dhaka, May 01 (V7N)- At a May Day rally in Paltan, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, strongly criticized current wage conditions for workers in Bangladesh and called for the implementation of Islamic labor laws to build a just society rooted in mutual understanding between employers and workers.
Organized by the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Federation, a Jamaat affiliate, the rally drew a significant crowd of party activists and supporters, waving banners and placards demanding workers’ rights.
Dr. Rahman stated: “The wages paid for eight hours of work in Bangladesh are inhumane. Allah’s laws must be implemented to create a society where workers and employers coexist with justice and dignity.”
Key highlights from the rally:
- Call for Islamic labor policy to restore fair labor rights and ensure employer-worker harmony.
- Assurance of workplace freedom for women under a Jamaat-led government.
- Demand for prayer facilities for both men and women in all factories.
- Framing of the rally as part of Jamaat’s broader political presence ahead of the upcoming elections.
Jamaat leaders underscored that Islamic principles in labor relations are not only religiously rooted but also offer practical solutions to long-standing worker grievances.
