DHAKA, June 5, (V7N) – Bangladesh recorded 62 new dengue cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections this year to 4,616, according to a press release by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the newly hospitalised patients:

50 were admitted in Barishal division

6 in Dhaka North City Corporation

2 in Chattogram

2 in Sylhet

1 in Mymensingh

1 in Rangpur

During the same period, 67 patients were discharged after receiving treatment.

So far this year, 23 people have died from the mosquito-borne disease.

In comparison, Bangladesh saw 1,01,214 cases and 575 deaths from dengue in 2024, marking it as one of the country's worst outbreaks.

Health authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and take preventive measures, especially as the monsoon season begins.
