Los Angeles, Nov 05 (V7N) – The long-running legal battle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie over their French winery, Château Miraval, has escalated as Pitt’s legal team seeks to make public private communications between Jolie and her lawyers.
According to court documents filed on October 29 in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by USA TODAY on November 4, the 61-year-old actor submitted a 286-page compendium of evidence supporting his request for Jolie’s emails related to her 2021 sale of her shares in the winery. The submission includes both redacted and unredacted exchanges between Jolie and her legal counsel dating back to 2008, which were recently turned over to the court.
However, Pitt’s team argues that Jolie’s lawyers are still withholding certain communications that allegedly involve “non-attorney” individuals. In response, Jolie’s attorney, Paul Murphy, issued a statement on November 4, accusing Pitt of harassment: “Mr. Pitt’s reply brief does not address our arguments and continues to rely on conjecture and speculation – all for the purpose of invading her privileged communications with her lawyers. This lawsuit is the manifestation of Mr. Pitt’s years-long effort to harass and control Angelina. We look forward to the upcoming hearing.”
Earlier filings from Jolie’s side maintained that her communications with business managers and close advisors were intended to be confidential. Jolie’s legal team also clarified that the individuals referred to by Pitt’s attorneys as “image consultants” were in fact staff members employed by her.
A hearing on the matter is set for December 17, according to an October 28 court document. The trial concerning Pitt’s allegations of Jolie’s breach of contract is scheduled to begin on February 1, 2027 — more than five years after the actor initially filed his lawsuit in February 2022.
