August 5 (V7N) - A long-rumored Taylor Swift music video for her 2017 track King of My Heart was indeed filmed but never released, according to her longtime collaborator and director Joseph Kahn.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Ourselves podcast hosted by music video director Arrad Rahgoshay, Kahn revealed that the video was shelved mid-process despite extensive production work. “We started shooting it,” he said. “We never finished it because she switched gears in the middle of it to do ...Ready for It?”
The decision to abandon the project came as Swift shifted promotional focus during the Reputation era, ultimately prioritizing visuals for other singles. Kahn, who directed several high-profile videos for Swift including Blank Space, Bad Blood, and Look What You Made Me Do, added that the King of My Heart video involved heavy visual effects and was intended to be ambitious in scope.
“It was highly visual effects,” Kahn noted, suggesting the scale of the production may have contributed to its abandonment.
Fans have speculated about the video for years, especially given King of My Heart's cinematic quality and its popularity among Swift’s core fan base. The revelation adds to the growing lore surrounding unreleased content from the Reputation album cycle, which many expect to be re-recorded and re-released as part of Swift’s ongoing effort to reclaim her master recordings.
There is no word on whether the footage will ever be completed or released. Swift has not commented publicly on the resurfaced information.
