Madaripur, July 30 (V7N) — A modern-day love story has unfolded in North Mahisherchar, Panchkhola Union, Madaripur, capturing community attention. What began as a TikTok connection four months ago between Sumaiya Akter and a Chinese youth, C‑Tianzi, blossomed into friendship, love, and ultimately marriage.
They began chatting regularly on the platform, their bond deepening over time. On July 24, C‑Tianzi flew to Bangladesh, crossing thousands of miles to meet Sumaiya. The following day, on July 28, the couple solemnized their marriage under Shariah law through a notary public, exchanging five lakh taka as Nikah‑mahr.
Upon learning of the wedding, neighbors and curious onlookers flocked to Sumaiya’s home, celebrating the union with enthusiasm. C‑Tianzi, a restaurant entrepreneur by profession, first landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and stayed overnight at a hotel before being brought to her family’s house.
Despite differences in language, culture, and country, both families expressed happiness over the match and sought well‑wishes for the young couple. Sumaiya’s father, Saidur Rahman, said: “My daughter communicated online, fell in love, and married a Chinese man—we’re all delighted. We pray for their lifelong happiness.”
Sumaiya, a first-year honours student at Madaripur Government Women’s College, shared: “I never expected he would come to Bangladesh. But when he sent his photo from the airport, I began to believe. A couple of days later we married. With Allah’s mercy, one day we’ll go to China and build a happy life together.”
C‑Tianzi added: “I loved Sumaiya with all my heart. That’s why I traveled thousands of miles to be with her. Now that our families have accepted the marriage, we plan to live happily together in my country. We welcome everyone’s prayers for our future together.”
The couple is expected to travel to China in approximately six weeks. The local community describes their story as an inspiring example of how modern technology and genuine affection can overcome geographical and cultural boundaries.
