Pabna, Sept 28 (V7N) – Pabna University of Science and Technology (PSTU) marked World Tourism Day with a seminar titled “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation”, organized by the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management on Saturday, September 27.
The day’s events began at 11 a.m. with a colorful procession led by Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, joined by faculty members, students, and invited guests. Following the rally, participants gathered to cut a cake before attending a discussion session at the department.
The seminar featured Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam as the chief guest and Professor Dr. Md. Hasibur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, as the special guest. The keynote address was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Mohammad Shoebur Rahman of Dhaka University’s Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
Other distinguished attendees included Professor Dr. Md. Amirul Islam, Director of the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Development, and Professor Dr. Md. Rashedul Haque, Student Advisor. The session was presided over by Md. Ashiqur Rahman Abhi, Chairman of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
In his remarks, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam emphasized the importance of travel and exploration for learning and personal growth. “We must preserve nature while making use of resources responsibly for future generations,” he said. He added that visiting tourist destinations provides valuable insights into culture and heritage while promoting sustainable development.
The program reflected PSTU’s commitment to raising awareness about the role of tourism in fostering cultural exchange, environmental conservation, and sustainable economic transformation.
