Savar, Sept 13 (V7N) – In the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) election, Hafiz Tarikul Islam and Nigar Sultana, candidates from the Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed “Samonnito Shikkharthi Jote” panel, secured victories in two prominent positions. Tarikul Islam won the Executive Member (Male) post with 1,746 votes, while Nigar Sultana was elected Social Service & Human Resource Development Secretary (Female) with 2,566 votes.

The final results were announced on Saturday at 7:28 p.m. at the Senate Building by JUCSU Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Md. Moniruzzaman.

Hafiz Tarikul Islam is a Master’s student in the 49th batch (2019-20 session) of the Department of Mathematics, while Nigar Sultana is a fourth-year student in the 50th batch (2020-21 session) of the Pharmacy Department. Tarikul serves as the Social Service Secretary of the Jabi branch of Chhatra Shibir, and Nigar is co-head of the Quran and Cultural Study Club.

The election saw a total of 179 candidates contesting 25 posts, including nine for Vice President (VP), eight for General Secretary (GS), ten for Male Joint General Secretary (JGS), and six for Female JGS. The results reflect strong support for the Shibir-backed panel while highlighting the active participation of students across the university’s various departments and clubs.
