Madaripur, August 8 (V7N) — The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) carried out raids at two educational institutions in Dasar, Madaripur, following allegations of irregularities in teacher recruitment and other complaints against the principals. The operations took place on Thursday afternoon, involving a four-member team from the ACC district office, led by Assistant Director Akhtaruzzaman and Deputy Assistant Director Md. Saidur Rahman Apu.

The ACC team focused on the Government Women’s College Dasar (formerly Sheikh Hasina Women’s College) and Shashikar Shaheed Smriti College.

According to Assistant Director Akhtaruzzaman, six irregular teacher and staff appointments were made at the Government Women’s College despite a prohibition from the Directorate of Education. The principal and managing committee went ahead with these appointments illegally. When the ACC team requested preliminary documents and records during the visit, the college authorities failed to provide them and requested time until Sunday to submit the materials.

Meanwhile, at Shashikar Shaheed Smriti College, the ACC found substantial evidence of various irregularities and corruption. The commission collected relevant documents and records for further investigation. It was also revealed that the principal’s wife, currently residing in India, has been receiving salary payments from Bangladesh regularly. The ACC is investigating the legitimacy of these payments and will take necessary action if any legal violations are confirmed.

The ACC has assured continued vigilance and necessary interventions to address corruption and malpractice in the education sector.
