RAJSHAHI, April 17 (V7N) — A child has died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RAMECH) with measles symptoms, hospital authorities confirmed Thursday.

Between 8 am Wednesday and 8 am Thursday, 11 more children were admitted with similar symptoms. As of Thursday morning, 145 children were receiving treatment, while 29 were discharged in the past 24 hours. Since the outbreak began, 613 children have been treated at RAMECH, and 51 have died.

Hospital spokesperson Dr. Shankar Kumar Biswas said treatment for measles symptoms is also being provided at Upazila Health Complexes and Sadar Hospitals, which has helped reduce pressure on RAMECH. “Critical patients are referred to RAMECH, where we are providing treatment,” he added.
