BNP-nominated candidate for the Bagerhat-3 constituency (Mongla–Rampal), Dr Sheikh Faridul Islam, has said ensuring the safety of all citizens—including political opponents—is his responsibility.
Addressing an election rally in the Malgazi area of Chandpai Union on Tuesday night at around 9:00pm, Dr Faridul said he would guarantee security for everyone in the constituency if elected.
“It is my duty to ensure the safety of my opponents, whether they are contesting against me or belong to another party,” he said. “If I am elected, I will ensure security for all residents of this township.”
He further said that from February 13, people who have been living outside the area due to political reasons would be able to return home and live with their families without fear. He added that anyone involved in criminal activities would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
The rally was attended by several local BNP leaders and activists, including Upazila BNP General Secretary Abu Hossain Poni, Organizing Secretary Sheikh Shakir Hossain, Joint Convener Sheikh Rustum Ali, Chandpai Union BNP President Sheikh Shah Alam, Upazila Jubo Dal Member Secretary Sujan Mollah, municipal BNP leader Mahmud Riyad, Municipal Jubo Dal Member Secretary M A Kashem, and Chandpai Union ward BNP leader Ayesha Akhter.
