Ukhiya, Feb 1 (V7N) — A massive election rally of BNP-nominated candidate Shahjahan Chowdhury was held in the Cox’s Bazar-4 (Ukhiya–Teknaf) parliamentary constituency on Saturday afternoon.

The rally took place at Palongkhali Station in Ukhiya Upazila, where a large number of BNP leaders and activists, along with local residents, gathered to express their support.

Speakers at the rally included Ukhiya Upazila BNP Vice President Advocate Rezaul Karim Reza, Cox’s Bazar District BNP member Advocate Abdul Mannan, Ukhiya Upazila BNP General Secretary Sultan Mahmud Chowdhury, Upazila BNP President Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury, and Cox’s Bazar District BNP Organizing Secretary M. Moktar Ahmad.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Shahjahan Chowdhury said that initiatives to repatriate the Rohingya population to Myanmar were first undertaken by martyred President Ziaur Rahman, followed later by significant efforts from former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

He expressed confidence that under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, the safe, dignified, and sustainable repatriation of approximately 1.5 million Rohingyas to Myanmar would be possible.

Shahjahan Chowdhury also announced development plans for the constituency, stating that a college would be established in the area between Palongkhali and Whaikyang unions to ensure access to higher education for local students and to help them contribute to national development. In addition, he pledged to bring the Chakmapara area under full electricity coverage and to ensure a permanent supply of safe drinking water for residents.

The rally was chaired by Palongkhali Union BNP President Helal Uddin, Member, and concluded with calls for unity and active participation in the upcoming parliamentary election.
