Sylhet, Oct 15 (V7N) – The Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry issued a circular on February 11, 2025, with specific guidelines to protect air travelers and prevent abnormal price hikes and fraudulent activities in airline ticket sales. However, Sylhet authorities have observed that these directives are not being properly followed.
The circular instructs that all airline tickets must clearly display the travel agency’s name, license number, and the ticket’s sale price. This measure aims to ensure transparency and safeguard passengers’ interests.
The Sylhet District Administration has warned that any travel agency failing to comply with these regulations will face strict action. Passengers are also advised to verify that purchased tickets accurately reflect the agency’s name and the official sale price, and to avoid buying tickets from unregistered agencies.
Authorities further stated that if any evidence emerges of excessive price hikes or involvement of agencies in syndicate activities, the respective agency’s license will be canceled and stringent measures will be taken.
The district administration emphasizes that adherence to these rules is crucial to maintain fair practices and protect air travelers in Sylhet.
