Sylhet, Nov 01 (V7N) – Abdur Razzak, a senior leader of the Awami League and former General Secretary of the South Surma Upazila Sports Association, was found murdered at his residence in Sylhet on Friday morning. Police reported that the killing occurred between 6:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.

Razzak, who also served as the Vice President of the South Surma Upazila Awami League, was a resident of Telirai village in Mollar Gaon Union and the son of the late respected local mediator Maulul Hossain. According to police, his body showed multiple stab wounds.

Local sources said Razzak went to the roof of his home after performing the Fajr prayer. At around 9:00 a.m., family members, unable to locate him inside the house, went to the roof and discovered his bloodied body. Police were immediately notified and recovered the body from the scene.

Muhammad Saiful Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, confirmed the murder and said that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances behind the killing. He added that Razzak’s body has been sent to Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

Authorities have urged local residents to provide any information that may assist in the investigation. The motive for the murder remains unclear, and police are working to apprehend those responsible for the brutal attack.
