Rangamati, Oct 19b (V7N) - A 15-year-old girl from Narail reportedly escaped a three-day ordeal of alleged abduction, rape, and confinement in Rangamati after being lured through a TikTok relationship. She jumped into a river to flee a local drug den, and authorities are now searching for the alleged perpetrator, identified as drug dealer Salauddin.

The alleged three-day ordeal took place in a rented house in the Shantinagar area, near Rangamati Bus Terminal.

The victim’s escape came on Saturday afternoon when, after being confined and reportedly abused for three days, she jumped from the house into the adjacent river. Local residents rescued her and promptly notified authorities.

The accused, Salauddin, reportedly fled immediately after her escape. Kotwali Thana Police responded and brought the victim to the station around 7:30 PM.

Kotwali Thana Police Inspector (Investigation) Md. Mokhlesur Rahman confirmed the incident and stated that police raids are underway across Rangamati to apprehend Salauddin and any accomplices.

Police stated that the 15-year-old victim, from Narayanpur village in Narail Sadar Upazila, had formed an online relationship with Salauddin, a known drug user from Shantinagar, Rangamati, through TikTok several months ago. Despite being married in Narail, she was persuaded by Salauddin’s influence and false promises of marriage.

Salauddin allegedly brought the girl to Rangamati on October 15. Upon arrival, she was confined in a rented house near the bus terminal owned by a local named Alam. In her initial statement to police, the victim alleged that Salauddin repeatedly raped and tortured her while consuming drugs such as Yaba and cannabis.

The victim recounted that when she attempted to leave on Saturday, Salauddin stole her phone and Tk 2,000. Facing another attempted sexual assault, she pretended to go to the bathroom and then jumped into the river, where local residents rescued her.

The rented house, managed by caretaker Lalu, had reportedly been leased two months earlier to Manik, the owner’s son-in-law. Lalu confirmed that Manik, along with Salauddin, regularly held drug sessions in the house.

Locals and the caretaker revealed that the tenants had cut a hidden wooden door inside the house, creating a covert exit over the water to facilitate nighttime drug trafficking. Lalu said he was threatened when he tried to intervene.

A police search of the premises uncovered evidence of illegal activity, including gambling tools, drug paraphernalia for Yaba and cannabis in Manik’s room, and belts fastened inside, suggesting they were used for restraint.

Authorities reported that the victim is in severe psychological distress and is receiving support at the Victim Support Center. Inspector Rahman confirmed that, based on the victim’s allegations of rape by Salauddin, legal proceedings are ongoing to prosecute all involved.
