Chittagong, Oct 16 (V7N)— A major fire broke out at factory number 5, Adams Cap, located in the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) around 2 pm on Thursday.
Seventeen units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence are currently working to control the blaze, with assistance from the Bangladesh Navy.
At present, it is unclear how many workers were inside the multi-storey factory at the time or whether anyone is trapped. According to local sources, the factory employs over 500 workers. The facility primarily manufactures hospital equipment.
Authorities are continuing firefighting operations and monitoring the situation closely. Updates on casualties and damages are expected as the response progresses.
