Cox’s Bazar, Sept 9 (V7N) – Bangladesh Coast Guard recovered 1,20,000 yaba tablets from the sea near Cheradwip Beach, St. Martin’s Island, and arrested six individuals on Tuesday evening in a major anti-drug operation. The names and addresses of the arrested suspects have not yet been disclosed. The trawler used for transporting the drugs has been seized.
 
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, media officer of the Coast Guard, confirmed the operation. Acting on a tip-off, a Coast Guard patrol team conducted a special early-morning raid near Cheradwip and inspected a suspicious trawler. Authorities recovered yaba tablets worth approximately 60 million Bangladeshi taka and detained six alleged traffickers.
 
The seized drugs, the trawler, and the arrested suspects are now undergoing formal legal processing. Lt. Cmdr. Siam-ul-Haq emphasized that the Coast Guard will continue to conduct such operations to combat drug trafficking in the future.
