Habiganj, Oct 15 (V7N) – A mobile court in Madhabpur upazila conducted inspections on Wednesday afternoon under the Weight and Measurement Standards Act, 2018, and the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) Act, 2018, to ensure compliance with product quality and measurement regulations.

The operation, led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Mujibur Islam, took place at Madhabpur market. Officials checked the weight, measurement, and quality standards of various shops and food products.

During the inspection, five businesses were found violating the regulations and collectively fined Tk 50,000. The fines were distributed as follows: Alif Lam Bakery – Tk 5,000; Bandhan Food Products – Tk 25,000; Messrs Pal Brothers – Tk 10,000; Kusumkoli Bakery – Tk 5,000; and Krishna Pal Traders – Tk 5,000.

Officials from the BSTI Sylhet office and a team from Madhabpur Police Station assisted in the operation.

Md. Mujibur Islam stated that the fines were imposed for using substandard weighing instruments, selling products without proper labeling, and distributing goods lacking BSTI certification marks. He emphasized that such inspections would continue in the public interest to ensure fair trade practices and consumer safety.
