Dhaka, June 7 (V7N) – The holy Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated with religious fervor across the country today. However, the festive mood in the capital faced a setback due to sudden rainfall that began around noon on Saturday.
From the morning, Dhaka's weather remained gloomy, with a dense layer of dark clouds looming over the city. By midday, areas such as Baridhara, Badda, Pragati Sarani, and Gulshan experienced light drizzles, which soon turned into heavy downpours.
While the rain brought some relief from the intense heat, it also caused inconvenience during the sacrificial rituals. Slippery roads and waterlogged streets made it difficult for citizens to carry out and complete the slaughtering and disposal of sacrificial animals smoothly.
Public transport was noticeably sparse, adding to the difficulties for those needing to travel during the day. Many residents remained indoors due to the unfavorable weather.
This aligns with the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department on Friday night, which predicted light to moderate rain across various regions of the country on Eid day. The department also warned of a possible rise in temperature, accompanied by high humidity.
Despite the weather challenges, the spirit of sacrifice and devotion among the people remains undeterred, with city corporations continuing their cleanup operations amid the rain.
