Dhaka, Jun 08 (V7N) – On the second day of Eid-ul-Azha, waste removal activities are ongoing across Dhaka as animal sacrifices continue in various parts of the city. Both Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) have announced significant progress, though some challenges remain.
DSCC Administrator Md. Shahjahan Mia stated that more than 133,000 animals were sacrificed in the southern part of the city on Eid day, and 100% of the resulting waste has already been removed. On Sunday (June 8), waste from ongoing sacrifices is being cleared within six hours of being generated.
On the other hand, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has reiterated the demand for complete removal of sacrificial waste. However, early Sunday morning saw waste piling up on several roads within DNCC areas, highlighting ongoing cleanup efforts.
Meanwhile, Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and Youth and Sports, shared on his verified Facebook page that all 12 city corporations across the country collectively removed 40,104 tons of waste by 10 pm on Saturday. He praised the coordination and dedication of local governments and cleaning workers for achieving 100% waste removal within a short time.
The coordinated efforts underscore the commitment of authorities and citizens to maintain cleanliness during the Eid celebrations, ensuring a healthy and hygienic environment for the public.
