Comilla, Sep 20 (V7N)- The first funeral prayer for Ishayat Shahriar Apratim, the only child of Comilla University Associate Professor Nahida Begum, was held on Sunday morning on the university campus.

The funeral prayer was held at 10:00am on the grounds of Comilla University, where Apratim's mother works in the Department of Bangla. A second funeral prayer is scheduled for 11:00am in the South Bagmara Kotbari area, followed by his burial.

Apratim, a seventh-grade student at Comilla Border Guard School, went missing on Friday afternoon after leaving his home with his mother's iPhone. He had told his family that he was going to Shalban Vihara with friends to take photographs.

When he did not return home by evening, his mother filed a General Diary (GD) with the Comilla Sadar South Police Station.

His body was recovered around 1:00pm on Saturday from a hillock behind Magic Paradise Park, adjacent to Comilla University.

Following an autopsy at the Comilla Medical College morgue, the body was handed over to his family at around 8:00pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, police have detained three people as suspects in connection with Apratim's death based on CCTV footage. A young man identified as Tuhin was initially detained, while two others, Fahim and Anas, were later taken into custody based on information obtained during his interrogation.

The iPhone Apratim had been carrying was also recovered from Tuhin's residence. Tuhin's mother reportedly acknowledged that the phone was found at their home.

The Superintendent of Police is scheduled to hold a press conference at noon on Sunday to provide further details about the investigation.
