Dhaka, Sep 04 (V7N)- State Minister for Railways and Road Transport Habibur Rashid has said the BNP government does not want any division in the country based on religion, emphasizing that all citizens are equal in the eyes of the state.
He made the remarks at a clothing distribution program organized on the occasion of Shubo Janmashtami at Bardeshwari Kali Mandir in Sabujbagh, Dhaka, on Friday (September 4) morning.
The State Minister said people of all religions and communities took part in a united struggle to end dictatorship during the July-August mass uprising and establish a new democratic Bangladesh.
He said there would be no religious division or distinction between majority and minority in the new Bangladesh.
Habibur Rashid reiterated the principle of “religion for each, state for all”, saying every citizen would enjoy equal rights before the state.
He also pledged to ensure the security of all religious institutions, including temples and mosques, and stressed the importance of maintaining communal harmony.
The State Minister expressed gratitude to local residents for electing him regardless of political affiliation or opinion.
He also pledged to transform the Dhaka-9 constituency into a model constituency through development initiatives.
