Dhaka, Jul 24 (V7N)- Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged people not to pay attention to rumours regarding the presidential issue.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after attending the Bengal Delta Conference at Hotel InterContinental in the capital on Friday (July 24).
In his speech at the conference, Mirza Fakhrul said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is committed to implementing the July Charter. He added that the BNP-led government will fulfill all commitments made during the election.
The minister said the government has already introduced various initiatives, including family cards and farmer cards, aimed at improving the living standards of rural communities.
Addressing economic challenges, Mirza Fakhrul said global conflicts, including the Iran-US tensions and the Russia-Ukraine war, have created pressure on the country's economy. He said the government is working to overcome these challenges while focusing on rebuilding the economic and political structure.
He further said the government is committed to strengthening democracy by practicing democratic values and maintaining democratic continuity in the country.
The Local Government Minister also emphasized the BNP government's commitment to regional cooperation and maintaining positive relations with neighbouring countries.
